5 Reader Questions! Heavy Course Loads, Scholarships, And Networking (Ep. 37)

Greetings, college hackers! We’re back once again to answer your questions on this episode of the podcast.

Every 4th episode of the CIG podcast is a reader Q&A episode, where we take 5 of your questions and answer them while playing a video game and generally getting mad at each other.

These episodes are a fun break from the normal interview style of the show, and give me a chance to answer questions from readers directly – while also getting the perspective of two other students.

On this episode, we’ll tackle:

  • How to deal with a monster 21-credit course load
  • What to put on a personal website if you’re not in a creative major
  • Networking ideas
  • How to effectively use small periods of free time throughout the day
  • How to find and win scholarships

…and more.

Your hosts are Martin Boehme (a language nerd), my girlfriend Anna Ellenberger (a design nerd), and me (a complete freaking nerd).

Enjoy!

Things mentioned in this episode:

Info for Veterans/Students in Military Service

Veterans Day is this week, and we’ve joined several other fantastic podcasts to honor it with the Voices for Vets project. If you’re a veteran or are currently a member of the armed forces – thank you for your service. Seriously. This episode is dedicated to you.

With that in mind, I’ve also gone out and found several information sources that may help you with your education goals!

  • For Veterans: Paying for College –
  • GI Bill details
  • FinAid’s Veterans’ Benefits page

Wrapping Up

Anna could not stop referencing this commercial for Totino’s Pizza Rolls. Fair warning: It’s really bizarre.

Wondering where the Resources of the Week segment is? I’ve decided to use the 80/20 principle to enable myself to focus my attention completely on the things that matter, so I’ve trimmed it – but worry not, because you can find all sorts of great tools at my Resources page.
