A Conversation with Satchell Drakes, One of My Biggest YouTube Inspirations (Ep. 50)
You’re probably aware of this by now, but I make a lot of videos these days.
Video is actually my favorite type of content to create at this point; the potential for creative expression through both the actual on-camera delivery and the editing process gives me a lot more ways to make my content fun than other mediums do.
Not surprisingly, there are a lot of people who I draw inspiration from and who I study in order to improve.
Since I love video games, a lot of those people happen to create gaming content – including this week’s guest, my friend Satchell Drakes.
Satchell runs a YouTube channel called Satchbag’s Goods, which primarily focuses on the design and storytelling aspects of video games.
His channel is part of the Normal Boots collective, which means he’s in the company of other people you may have heard of such as JonTron and PeanutButterGamer. He’s also part of a new podcast called
The first thing you’ll notice when you check out Satchell’s videos is that they’re well-designed. When I first discovered his channel, I was blown away by the production values he puts into his work (all on his own), and ever since, I’ve been a huge fan of his work and have been trying to learn from him.
This episode isn’t typical for the CIG podcast; normally, I pick a college-related topic and try to focus on it. This time around, I’m simply having a conversation with someone I look up to – however, I still think you’ll find it interesting!
