How do ribosomes endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus function together in protein synthesis?

How do ribosomes endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus function together in protein synthesis?

The endoplasmic reticulum takes the proteins that are made by the ribosomes and folds them into sacs that are called cisternae. It then transports these folded proteins to the Golgi apparatus. They are then released from the Golgi apparatus in what are called secretory vesicles into the cytoplasm.

What happens when Golgi apparatus fails?

Without a Golgi apparatus, there would be no lysosomes in a cell. Subsequently, the cell would not be able to digest or break down the materials left over from protein creation. This would create a lot of excess junk within the cell. If this happened, the cell wouldn’t be able to live for very long

What happens if organelles stopped working?

If one of these membranes didn’t exist the cell would be vulnerable. It would be susceptible to germs and disease. Without the nuclear membrane the cell would collapse and die. Without the cell membrane, any chemical would be allowed to enter.

What happens if protein synthesis is inhibited?

A protein synthesis inhibitor is a compound that stops or slows the growth or proliferation of cells by disrupting the processes that lead directly to the generation of new proteins.

What antibiotic prevents the continuation of protein synthesis?

Cards

Term Drugs Definition Chemicals that affect the physiology in any manner
Term What antimicrobial drugs are described: inhibits protein synthesis by preventing the continuation of protein synthesis. Definition macrolides and lincosamides

Which antibiotic is used for inhibitor of protein synthesis?

erythromycin

Is Penicillin a protein synthesis inhibitor?

Abstract. Penicillins have been shown to inhibit bacterial cell wall synthesis, and interact with penicillin binding proteins, leading to bacterial lysis. These two mechanisms, the former more than the latter are believed to be responsible for their therapeutic potential.
