I didn’t realise until I saw this film that it takes serious chops to simply be convincingly cheery, and hopeful, and awkward in a way that it is relatable across cultures. Second, it is technically excellent. There are some great shots, long takes, and transitions that made me say ‘dayum’ and rewind to see them again.
