How many CEUS do nurses need in Ohio?
A: Each person licensed as an RN or LPN in Ohio must complete twenty-four (24) contact hours of CE during each licensure period to renew a license. A nurse who has been licensed by endorsement for less than or equal to one (1) year must complete twelve (12) contact hours.
Does ACLS count as CE?
Advanced lifesaving courses such as ACLS, PALS and NRP are accepted by most states for the initial course and certification, but only a very few states such as Texas accept renewal courses for continuing education credit. In California, some CME courses are accepted, but again you need to check with the BON.
Who can take NRP?
Certainly, any medical professional who cares for patients from birth to the first week of life should take this course. Learners will be required to pass a 50-question exam to determine whether they have mastered the knowledge provided in this course.
Is PALS and NRP the same?
PALS, or Pediatric Advanced Life Support, is put out by the American Heart Association to provide guidance for emergency care for the older pediatric population. The PALS course usually takes more time than the NRP course does and provides more practice stations along with a written test and a skills test.
