Not to say it was as good as the abovementioned shows, but it still remains one of the most revolutionary shows on HBO and is very much worth your time. With six seasons of pure unpredictability, here are 10 reasons you should start binge watching Oz.
Is Oz a good TV series?
Not only the best show on TV currently, but one of the best shows of all-time. Consistently well-written and acted, Oz is without a doubt the best thing on TV. Quality wise, it’s up there with the first 4 seasons of Homicide: Life on the Street as the most compelling hour of television drama.

Because it was going to be a full year from the end of one season to the start of the next HBO had to fill the time slot, so they gave OZ sixteen episodes instead of eight. So the writers had to make twice content. The season does suffer a little because of this (Adebisi’s death does fell like an end of season finale).
Why did Beecher go back to jail?
Beecher is paroled, inherits his father’s law firm, and gets Keller’s sentence overturned. However, Beecher is sent back to prison after a lonely Keller arranges for him to get caught buying drugs. Upon returning to Oz, Beecher severs ties with Keller.

Disgusted, Schillinger turns against Loewen and has him killed by Willy Brandt. Ryan and Cyril’s father, Seamus O’Reily, is sent to Oz for murder.

After Schillinger rapes Cyril, however, Ryan gets his brother transferred to his own cell. In the last season of the show, Cyril is executed despite Ryan’s multiple attempts to save his brother, and despite Cyril’s intellectual disability.

What happened to Tobias in Oz?
In an attempt to make Beecher forgive him, Keller engineers Schillinger’s death; during Oz’s production of Macbeth (in which both Beecher and Schillinger had been cast), he switches a prop knife for a real one, resulting in Schillinger’s death when Beecher stabs him.
